Tips to Avoid Burnt Vape Taste

Tips to Avoid Burnt Vape Taste

Much as professional football players are well-versed in all of the game's rules, vapers are well-versed in their own and all of the difficulties that they may face in their vaping lives.

They've all had the horrible feeling of taking a puff from their favorite e-juice and only getting flames of hell with no taste, a totally painful throat hit, and a destroyed coil: this is what we call a dry hit vape! When you get a burnt taste from vape juice instead of a smooth flavor, it can be a very unpleasant vaping experience, particularly for your throat.

If you want to know how to avoid a burnt hit? So firstly, you must know what it is.

What is a burnt hit?

Simply put, a burnt hit occurs when you draw on your e-cigarette and inhale a cloud of burnt-tasting vapor. Burnt hits occur when the heating coil singes the wick within the atomizer portion of your vape device when there is no e-liquid on your wick and it will taste like a burnt hit. An empty e-liquid tank or a blockage in your atomizer will cause dry wicks.

It's a popular issue with new vapers who are still learning how to vape, and it can easily be avoided.

What’s causing the burnt vape taste?

The wick is the part of your system that absorbs the e-liquid until the coil heats up and transforms it into vapor. Since there is no solvent to vaporize, the coil begins to burn the wick, resulting in an unpleasant burnt taste in your mouth.

Some of the most common causes of burnt hits are as follows:

  •  Chain vaping

Burnt hits are most commonly caused by chain vaping, particularly among new vapers. When you take a lot of puffs in a row, your wick doesn't have enough time to absorb the e-liquid, and it dries out and burns.
  • High power vaping

Your e-liquid can vaporize too easily if you vape at a wattage that is too high for your coil head.
When this happens, the wick is unable to re-saturate fast enough, and the coil burns the wick, resulting in an unpleasant burnt flavor.
  •  Running low on vape juice

It's important to keep your e-liquid topped up because if you run out of fuel, your device's wick will become burned. You may have a risk of a burnt hit if your e-liquid doesn't cover the input holes along the sides of your coil head.

To be on the safe side, keep your tank at least a quarter full at all times.
  •  Choice of e-juice

Another reason your vape tastes burnt is the e-juice you use (that is, the use of cheap e-juice). Some vape juices are troublesome and can cause the coil to become clogged.

Since they are denser and stiffer for coil wicks to absorb, e-juice with high VG concentration and sugar content is more likely than not to cause the vape to taste burnt, also allowing the vape pens to fail.

  • Use of old coil

The most common cause of coil burns, and the resulting burnt vape flavour is the use of an old coil.

Without taking into account personal consumption habits, an average coil should last around 2-3 weeks, so anything more than that can result in a burnt taste in the vape.

  • Not cleaning your coil

You haven't washed your coil. Maintenance is an important habit to develop, particularly when it comes to your vape device. Cleaning the coil will help you get more use out of it.

You can clean your coils by rubbing them clean cotton buds soaked in alcohol, then washing them in clear hot water to remove the residue and alcohol.

6 Ways to Get Rid of Burned Coils

  1. Prime your coils
  2. Stop chain vaping
  3. Reduce power settings
  4. Keep your vape tank topped up
  5. Try an e-liquid with less sweetener
  6. Use temperature control

1.    Prime your coils

Priming the coil simply entails soaking the wicks by hand before installing it. Coil heads typically have a top opening and several ports along the sides where the wick can be seen. To prime the coil, pour a few drops of e-juice into the top opening (roughly 3 to 5) and soak the exposed wick at the ports along the edge.

It doesn't take long for each port to be saturated with e-juice; just make sure the sections you can see are saturated.

2.    Stop Chain Vaping

Vaping continuously until you can't see your e-cig through the clouds, also known as "chain vaping," can result in a burnt wick. This is due to the previously listed problem you must ensure that your wick will re-saturate with juice before hitting the fire button again. This isn't an issue in regular usage because you'll stop vaping after a short session and allow it to recover.

However, if you vape for an extended period of time, your wicks will inevitably dry out. If you vape again, you run the risk of burning the wick.

3.   Reduce Your Power Setting

Through each puff, you vaporize more juice as you vape at a higher wattage. This is nice if you want large clouds, but it has the potential to hurt your coils. Since you're vaping e-juice at a faster pace, your wick can struggle to absorb enough juice to keep up. You can even burn your wick if it can't keep up. It’s close to the problem with chain vaping, but it arises after much fewer puffs. Simply lower your power setting to solve the problem.

If the flavor begins to fade, your coil is possibly getting dry and needs some time to consume juice. When this happens, you'll need to take a break (as mentioned above), however you can reduce your wattage to make it less likely to happen again.

4.   Keep Your Vape Tank Topped Up

If your tank's juice level is low, it cannot be able to absorb as deeply into your wicks. To enter the wicking ports on many coil heads, the juice must be at a certain amount.

Since there is less juice in contact with the wick, it does not absorb as easily.
When your juice level is incredibly poor, this can quickly lead to problems. The most straightforward approach is to keep your tank full.

5.   Try an e-liquid with less sweetener

If there's a lot of sweetener in an e-juice, it will "gunk" up your coils. The sugars in the e-liquid will caramelize, which is delicious when it comes to desserts, but it's also a surefire way to ruin your coils.
The clogged wick is unable to absorb fresh juice. While this is commonly associated with sweeteners, several different juices are capable of gun king up coils. Coffee and hard, dessert-inspired e-liquids are two of the most frequent offenders. If your coil is clogged, try cleaning the wicks with water or grain alcohol (not rubbing alcohol).

If you do this, however, you must wait 24 hours (or longer) for it to fully dry before using it again.

6.   Use temperature control

Temperature regulation (TC) vaping explicitly tackles the question of burning wicks.

TC devices like the Geek vape Aegis Max Zeus monitor the observable changes in resistance that occur when certain coil materials are heated up, allowing you to set a target temperature for your coil.

The e-cig stops supplying power when it hits this temperature to prevent it from becoming any hotter.

Conclusion

Any burned coil and wick are a waste of money because there is no going back, you must replace the atomizer head. So, if you really want to enjoy your juice, get the most out of your coils, and stop the unpleasant taste of burned wick, keep these tips in mind.
